Job Title: Gate & Barrier Service Engineer

About the Role
Due to continued business growth, our client is seeking an experienced Gate & Barrier Service Engineer to join their established team in the London area.
In this role, you'll be responsible for the servicing, fault-finding, planned preventative maintenance (PPM), and repair of automated gates, barriers, and associated access systems - ensuring minimal downtime and excellent service delivery across a variety of commercial and residential clients. The ability to weld and fabricate on-site is essential to this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out servicing and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) of automated gates, barriers, and access systems.
- Diagnose and repair faults quickly and effectively, minimising client downtime.
- Perform on-site welding and fabrication repairs as required.
- Source and replace parts, ensuring quality and compliance with manufacturer standards.
- Complete job reports and ensure compliance with company and industry standards.
- Provide excellent customer service on-site.
- Participate in an on-call rota (with standby allowance and premium overtime rates).
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 4 years' experience as a service/maintenance engineer within the gate, barrier, or door automation sector.
- Proven welding ability (MIG/MMA or equivalent)
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across automated gate and barrier systems.
- Familiarity with leading manufacturers such as BFT, FAAC, Nice, Came, Automatic Systems, or similar.
- Gate Safe and/or DHF accreditation or working knowledge of their guidelines advantageous.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Valid DBS certificate (or ability to obtain one).
Salary & Benefits
- Basic salary: up to £48,000 / £23 per hour (depending on experience).
- Overtime rates: 1.5x weekday / 2x weekend.
- On-call rota with standby allowance (£160 | 1in10) + premium overtime rates.
